Upsell FAQ
Quick answers to the most common questions about Upsell. For the full definition, formula, and benchmarks, see the Upsell glossary page.
What is an upsell?
An upsell increases the value of an existing subscription — more seats, a higher tier, bigger limits. Because the customer already trusts the product, upsells close far cheaper than new logos and power net revenue retention above 100%.
What is the difference between upselling and cross-selling?
Upselling sells more of the same product (bigger plan); cross-selling sells a different, complementary product. Both create expansion revenue, but upsells usually come first because they ride the existing usage curve.
